# Invite your team

Add teammates as members so they can open your project. Two things decide who can open it: the members you add one by one, and the operator company. Everyone at the operator company can open the project without an individual invite. Your Stackline team can always open your project to support you.

## Your project opens to three groups

Members, the operator company, and your Stackline team can open your project. You add the members. Only your Stackline team can change the operator company.

{% columns %}
{% column %}
**Members**

People you add one by one, in **Settings → Members**. A member belongs to one project.
{% endcolumn %}

{% column %}
**Operator company**

Everyone at one company can open the project without an individual invite. It shows in **Settings → Overview → Company**.
{% endcolumn %}

{% column %}
**Stackline team**

Your Stackline team can always open your project to support you.
{% endcolumn %}
{% endcolumns %}

## The member list shows everyone you added

**Settings → Members** lists every person you added to this project.

| Column     | What it shows                                                                                                  |
| ---------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Member** | The person's name and email. Before their first sign-in, it shows only the email and **Hasn't signed in yet**. |
| **Role** | **Admin**. Every member is an admin today. |
| **Added** | The date the person was added, and who added them. |

Members belong to one project. To give someone access to two projects, add them in each project.

## Add a teammate by email

Add a teammate by the email they sign in with. Adding them gives access only. It does not create an account or send an email.

**Before you start**

* Your teammate has their own Stackline account. They sign in with it.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Stackline team step: a teammate with no Stackline account.** If your teammate has no Stackline account, send your Stackline team their first name, last name, and work email. Your Stackline team creates the account, adds them as an admin, and emails them an invite.
{% endhint %}

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open Members

Open **Settings → Members**. The member list opens.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Type the email

Type the email address your teammate signs in with, for example `name@company.com`.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Add the member

Click **Add member**, or press Enter. Your teammate now shows in the list.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Done. Your teammate can open the project from the project switcher. You can add a teammate before they ever sign in. Their access starts on their first sign-in with that email.

## Remove a teammate from the actions menu

Remove a teammate to take away their access to this project. You can add them again later.

**Before you start**

* You cannot remove yourself.
* Every project must keep at least one admin. Add another admin before you remove the last one.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open Members

Open **Settings → Members**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Click Remove

On the teammate's row, open the actions menu, and click **Remove**. A confirm dialog opens.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Confirm

In the **Remove “<name@company.com>”?** dialog, click **Remove**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Done. The teammate loses access to this project.

## Company access comes from the Company tab

The **Company** tab shows which company owns the project and which company's staff can open it. Open **Settings → Overview**, and click the **Company** tab. It has two sections: **Owner** and **Operator**.

### The owner comes from your brands

The owner is the company this project belongs to. Fulfillment accounts, settlement, and **Connected accounts** use it.

| Field              | What it shows                                                           |
| ------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Owning company** | The company that owns the project. |
| **Brands** | The IDs of the brands on the project's catalog. |
| **Source** | **Matches the brands**, or **Set manually — brands resolve elsewhere**. |

The owner comes from your project's brands. You cannot edit it on this tab.

### The operator company's staff need no invite

**Operator** is the company whose staff can open this project without an individual invite. **Current** shows the company, or **No company access**.

Add individual people in **Settings → Members** instead. That works for any project, whatever its operator company.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Stackline team step.** Only your Stackline team can change the operator company. A change moves access from one company to another. Before they apply it, they see who loses access and who gains it. Members you added one by one keep their access. Contact your Stackline team to make this change.
{% endhint %}

## Troubleshooting

Each answer starts from the message or behavior that you see.

<details>

<summary>What if I see "Enter the email address they sign in with."?</summary>

Type a full email address, for example `name@company.com`.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What if I see "name@company.com already has access."?</summary>

The person is already a member. You do not have to do anything.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What if I see "Only an app admin can change its members."?</summary>

Ask an admin on the project to add or remove the person.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What if I see "This is the last admin on the app — add another admin before removing this one."?</summary>

Add another member first, then remove this one.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What if I see "Only superusers can change this." on the Company tab?</summary>

Ask your Stackline team to change the operator company.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What if a warning says that the owning company does not match the project's brands?</summary>

Contact your Stackline team. They correct the brands on your catalog, and the owner follows them.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What if my teammate cannot see the project after I added them?</summary>

Make sure that they sign in with the exact email you added.

</details>
